Our Instructors

JAS, is the artistic director of  JAS Dance Academy and is an internationally renowned dancer, choreographer, and instructor. He has danced all over the world as well as the USA. Jose was born in El Salvador and has been the leading dance instructor for Salsa, Bachata, Ch-Cha-Cha and most Latin Dances in the Greater Sonoma County since 2001.
Creator and founder of JAS LATIN DANCE ACADEMY, Rumbambeo, Sangre Latina and the Latin Dance Program as well as the trainer for the World Team Project (Daniel y Desiree Bachata Lovers). Jose is also the producer of the Wine Country Salsa & Bachata Festival. This amazing event takes place in the Wine Country. As part of his participation in the Latin scene, Jose has also been the choreographer and coordinator for the 205-2008 Latin Grammys Street Parties in NY, Miami, Dallas, Chicago and Los Angeles. This has given Jose the opportunity to work on stage with names like Pitbull, Orishas, Calle 13, Victor Manuel, and many others. He's experienced extends to his coaching and instruction in several Salsa & Bachata congresses & festivals around the world. Jose is also responsible for the thousands of salsa and Latin dancers in and around Sonoma County and greater Bay Area. With over 19 years of experience in teaching Jose is the leading dance instructor in the North Bay.

Chelsea Rose, is a professional Salsa & Bachata instructor, dancer, & performer.  She attended California Polytechnic University in San Luis Obispo, CA where she became an active member of the Cal Poly Salsa Club in 2003. In 2006 she traveled to Mexico where she performed at the International Salsa Congress in Mexico City with partner Rederid Reyes. She relocated to upstate NY in 2008 to teach Latin dance classes at Cornell University and La Familia de la Salsa in Syracuse, NY as well as Palante Dance Troupe in Ithaca, NY.  In 2011 she moved to the north bay in California and joined J.A.S Latin Dance Academy, as a member of the professional team Rumbambeo and soon became an instructor for the company. She divided her time between teaching and performing both in California and upstate NY. 

Chelsea's many talents include martial arts, massage therapy, yoga training & Zen meditation.

She offers several levels of training in, salsa partner work, ladies styling, as well as technique (spinning, footwork, lead & follow), and performance presentation. 

Her love for music and dance is reflected in her teaching  - Translating Latin rhythms into movement of body and soul. 

Lauralie Staley-Mathews, is the artistic director of the JAS Dance Academy Ballroom & Latin division.  She has been enjoying her passion for Ballroom, Latin and Swing dancing for more than 22 years. She has toured the globe performing and competing all over the U.S., Europe, Australia, and New Zealand.  She spent three years as a featured Ballroom dancer and guest entertainer on board Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines.  She has been part of their production team helping install their Ballroom/Latin shows and choreographing featured numbers and has had the pleasure to work on a few of these shows alongside Louie Van Amsteel from ABC's Dancing with the Stars. Lauralie currently coaches the L-Stars and Daniel y Desiree World Team Project at JAS Latin Dance Academy.  

She is a professional dancer offering classes in Ballroom, Lain, Wedding dances and Swing featuring: Salsa, West Coast Swing, Cha-Cha, Foxtrot, Tango, and more! 

Franky Miller, is a Jr. Instructor & Trainer for  Daniel y Desiree World Team Project in Santa Rosa    

Jeff Jung, is a Jr. Instructor & Trainer for  Daniel y Desiree World Team Project in San Francisco   

Stephanie Campbell, is a Jr. Instructor & Trainer for  Daniel y Desiree World Team Project in San Francisco     

Taylor Kinney, is a professional ballroom dancer competing, performing, and teaching in ChaCha, Rumba, Swing, Bolero, Mambo, Bachata, and Salsa among other styles.  


J.A.S. Dance is the premier dance studio in Sonoma County. With longstanding roots in the Wine Country! Founded in 2001 as a way to express Latin culture and art through movement. Adventure, passion and the joy of Salsa dance and motion were key ingredients to the core philosophy.
